Cipolla Caffé — coffee roastery in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia
FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

How fresh is your coffee?+

We roast coffee in small batches right here in Banská Bystrica and fill orders from freshly roasted coffee. Small batches mean you never get coffee that’s been sitting in storage.

Will you grind the coffee for me?+

Yes, we’re happy to grind your coffee to match your brewing method — espresso, moka pot, filter or French press. Just leave a note with your order. For the fullest flavor, though, we recommend grinding at home right before brewing.

What are the shipping options and how much do they cost?+

Packeta pickup point from 4 €, courier to your address from 5 €, and in-store pickup at the Cipolla Caffé Shop on Zvolenská cesta 8 in Banská Bystrica is free. Cash on delivery is +1,50 €. Orders over 49 € ship free within Slovakia.

When will my order arrive?+

We usually ship within 2 to 7 business days of order confirmation (for prepaid orders, from when payment is received). We roast coffee fresh in small batches, so shipping follows the roasting cycle — you get it at peak flavor, not off a warehouse shelf.

How can I pay?+

Online payment by card or bank transfer via TatraPay Plus — you choose the method directly in the bank’s payment gateway. For delivery within Slovakia, you can also pay cash on delivery (+1,50 €). Approved B2B partners can, by arrangement, also pay by invoice with a payment term.

Can I return an item?+

Yes — as a consumer, you can withdraw from the contract within 14 days of receiving your order, with no reason needed. The exception is food with a broken protective seal: an opened bag of coffee can’t be returned, an unopened one can. You’ll find the full details and process in our Terms & Conditions.

Do you have decaf coffee too?+

Yes — we roast our own decaf: whole bean Columbia Huila Decaf and ground Decaf Blend, both in stock. On request, we’ll grind the whole bean to match your brewing method. You’ll find the full range on our Decaf Coffee page.

How do I sign up for a barista course?+

You order a course just like any product in our shop (Courses category). We’ll then contact you with the nearest available dates. Courses run in small groups at our roastery.

Do you service machines bought elsewhere?+

We service espresso machines and grinders regardless of where you bought them — most brands. Among home bean-to-cup machines, we service the Nivona brand. Service line: +421 907 979 754.

How often should I clean and descale my machine?+

It depends on your water hardness and how many coffees you make. Skipped descaling is actually the most common cause of breakdowns — the machine stops pushing water through or stops heating. You’ll find cleaning and descaling products in our shop under Accessories, and our service team can advise on maintenance and settings too.

Do you supply coffee to cafés and businesses?+

Yes, we run a B2B program with individual pricing, equipment rental, service and staff training. You can apply for a B2B account on our B2B page.

Where can I find you?+

Shop & Café (also in-store pickup): Zvolenská cesta 8, Banská Bystrica. Roastery & Barista Academy: Partizánska cesta 106, Banská Bystrica. You’ll find current opening hours on our Contact page.

How should I store whole bean coffee?+

In its original sealed bag or an airtight container, somewhere dry and dark, at room temperature. Keep coffee away from moisture, direct light and strong odors — it doesn’t belong in the fridge. The best-before date is printed on the bag.
